I welcome you all to the Diploma in Pharmacy home page on behalf of the team MET’s

Institute of Pharmacy (METIOP). METIOP is a chief Pharmacy institute not only in Nashik

but throughout Maharashtra. After establishing high educational standards and being

accredited by NAAC and NBA, securing a good NIRF ranking, and approval under UGC

2f/12B norms, the institute has begun offering a Diploma in Pharmacy (D. Pharmacy)

course from the year 2021–22.
 

This course is approved by Pharmacy Council of India (PCI), Directorate of Technical

Education (DTE), and the Government of Maharashtra and is affiliated with the

Maharashtra State Board of Technical Education (MSBTE), Mumbai.
 

During the COVID pandemic, the fields of education and pharmacy have seen rapid

advancement. The D. Pharmacy department believes in evolving and progressing in

response to educational demand, and we offer our students a unique blend of practical and

theoretical knowledge. The primary goal of this course is not only to teach students but

also to nurture budding pharmacists.
 

A student’s growth is influenced by both their normal academic activities as well as their

participation in numerous extracurricular activities. At METIOP, we strive to help our

students realize and pursue their goals by organizing field visits, entrepreneurial

development programs, and other progressive activities.
 

Pharmacists are an integral element of the healthcare system and are tasked with ensuring

community health. I am certain that my students, being a part of MET's Institute of

Pharmacy, will conduct their professional practice in the most ethical and responsible

manner possible.

Program Educational Objectives

  1. To impart students with Skills and Knowledge required to Handle, Compound and Dispense various Drugs & Dosage forms with their Regulatory Requirements. (विद्यार्थ्यांना त्यांच्या नियामक आवश्यकतांसह विविध औषधे हाताळणे, बनवणे आणि वितरित करण्याकरिता आवश्यक कौशल्ये आणि ज्ञान देणे.)
     

  2. To educate students with various chemical and plant based medicines, their usage and their action on Human body. (विद्यार्थ्यांना विविध रासायनिक आणि वनस्पतींवर आधारित औषधे, त्यांचा वापर आणि मानवी शरीरावरील परिणाम शिकवणे.)
     

  3. The major emphasis is on Public Health, Role of Pharmacist to maintain public health, effect of food and nutrition on health of an Individual. (सार्वजनिक आरोग्य, आणि ते राखण्यासाठी फार्मासिस्टची भूमिका, तसेच एखाद्या व्यक्तीच्या आरोग्यावर अन्न आणि पोषण यांचा प्रभाव समजावणे यावर मुख्य भर आहे.)
     

  4. To build-in the students effective communication skills, planning, analyzing ability and leadership. (विद्यार्थ्यांमध्ये प्रभावी संवाद कौशल्य, नियोजन, विश्लेषण क्षमता आणि नेतृत्व तयार करणे.)
     

  5. To develop student with Entrepreneur mindset and vision to establish a successful business. (यशस्वी व्यवसाय स्थापन करण्यासाठी उद्योजक मानसिकता आणि दृष्टी असलेल्या विद्यार्थ्याचा विकास करणे.)
     

  6. To inspire students for higher education and update them in the context of technological advancement. (विद्यार्थ्यांना उच्च शिक्षणासाठी प्रेरित करणे आणि तांत्रिक प्रगतीच्या संदर्भात त्यांना अद्ययावत करणे.)

Program Outcomes

  1. Handling of Prescriptions: The student should receive and handle prescriptions in a professional manner and be able to check for their completeness and correctness. Also, student should be able to dispense the various scheduled drugs / medicines as per the implications of the Drug & Cosmetics Act and Rules there under. (विद्यार्थ्याने व्यावसायिक पद्धतीने प्रिस्क्रिप्शन्स स्वीकारल्या पाहिजेत आणि हाताळल्या पाहिजेत आणि त्यांची पूर्णता आणि अचूकता तपासण्यास सक्षम असावे. तसेच, औषध व सौंदर्य प्रसाधने कायदा आणि त्याखालील नियमांच्या परिणामांनुसार विद्यार्थ्याने  विविध औषधे वितरीत करण्यास सक्षम असावे.)
     

  2. Provide Patient Counseling / Education: The student should be able to effectively counsel / educate the patients / caretakers about the prescription / nonprescription medicines and other health related issues. Effective communication includes using both oral and written communication skills and various communication techniques.(विद्यार्थ्यांनी रुग्णांना प्रिस्क्रिप्शन / नॉन -प्रिस्क्रिप्शन औषधे आणि इतर आरोग्यविषयक समस्यांबद्दल प्रभावीपणे सल्ला / शिक्षित करण्यास सक्षम असावे. प्रभावी संप्रेषणात मौखिक आणि लिखित दोन्ही संभाषण कौशल्ये आणि विविध संप्रेषण तंत्रे वापरणे समाविष्ट आहे.)
     

  3. Hospital and Community Pharmacy Management: The student should be able to manage the drug distribution system as per the policies and guidelines of the hospital pharmacy, good community pharmacy practice and the recommendations of regulatory agencies. Also, be able to manage the procurement, inventory, and distribution of medicines in hospital / community pharmacy settings. (रुग्णालयाच्या फार्मसीची धोरणे आणि मार्गदर्शक तत्त्वे, चांगली कम्युनिटी फार्मसी प्रॅक्टिस आणि नियामक संस्थांच्या शिफारशींनुसार विद्यार्थी औषध वितरण व्यवस्था व्यवस्थापित करण्यास सक्षम असावा. तसेच, हॉस्पिटल / कम्युनिटी फार्मसीमध्ये औषधांची खरेदी, यादी आणि वितरण व्यवस्थापित करण्यात सक्षम व्हावा.)
     

  4. Expertise on Medications: The student should be able to provide an expert opinion on medications to health care professionals on safe and effective medication-use, relevant policies and procedures based on available evidences. (उपलब्ध पुराव्यांच्या आधारावर विद्यार्थी सुरक्षित आणि प्रभावी औषध-वापर, संबंधित धोरणे आणि कार्यपद्धतींवर आरोग्यसेवा व्यावसायिकांना औषधांविषयी तज्ञांचे मत देऊ शकले पाहिजे.)
     

  5. Proficiency on Pharmaceutical Formulations: The student should be able to describe the chemistry, characteristics, types, merits and demerits of both drugs and excipients used in pharmaceutical formulations based on her/his knowledge and scientific resources. (विद्यार्थी तिच्या/त्याच्या ज्ञानावर आणि वैज्ञानिक संसाधनांच्या आधारावर फार्मास्युटिकल फॉर्म्युलेशनमध्ये वापरल्या जाणार्या दोन्ही औषधे आणि एक्स्सीपिएंट्सची रसायनशास्त्र, वैशिष्ट्ये, प्रकार, गुण आणि तोटे यांचे वर्णन करण्यास सक्षम असावेत.)
     

  6. Entrepreneurship and Leadership: The student should be able to acquire the entrepreneurial skills in the dynamic professional environments. Also, be able to achieve leadership skills through teamwork and sound decision- making skills.(विद्यार्थी गतिशील व्यावसायिक वातावरणात उद्योजकीय कौशल्ये प्राप्त करण्यास सक्षम असावा. तसेच, टीमवर्क आणि योग्य निर्णय घेण्याच्या कौशल्यांद्वारे नेतृत्व कौशल्ये प्राप्त करण्यास सक्षम व्हावा.)
     

  7. Deliver Primary and Preventive Healthcare: The student should be able to contribute to various healthcare programs of the nation including disease prevention initiatives to improve public health. Also contribute to the promotion of national health policies. (विद्यार्थी सार्वजनिक आरोग्य सुधारण्यासाठी रोग प्रतिबंधक उपक्रमांसह राष्ट्राच्या विविध आरोग्य सेवा कार्यक्रमांमध्ये योगदान देऊ शकला पाहिजे.)
     

  8. Professional, Ethical and Legal Practice: The student should be able to deliver professional services in accordance with legal, ethical, and professional guidelines with integrity. (विद्यार्थी कायदेशीर, नैतिक आणि व्यावसायिक मार्गदर्शक तत्त्वांनुसार सचोटीने व्यावसायिक सेवा प्रदान करण्यास सक्षम असावा.)
     

  9. Continuing Professional Development: The student should be able to recognize the gaps in the knowledge and skills in the effective delivery of professional services from time to time and be self-motivated to bridge such gaps by attending continuing professional development programs. (विद्यार्थी वेळोवेळी व्यावसायिक सेवांच्या प्रभावी वितरणामध्ये ज्ञान आणि कौशल्यातील अंतर ओळखण्यास सक्षम असावा आणि सतत व्यावसायिक विकास कार्यक्रमांना उपस्थित राहून अशा अंतरांना कमी करण्यासाठी स्वयंप्रेरित व्हावा.)

Eligibility

Passed HSC or its equivalent examination with Physics and Chemistry as compulsory subjects along with one of the Mathematics or Biotechnology or Biology Obtained at least 45% marks (at least 40 % marks in case of candidates of Backward class categories and Persons with Disability belonging only to Maharashtra State) in the above subjects taken together.
